Community outreach program was an initiative by CCHS for the 2020-2021 academic year under the guidance of Dr Fr Joseph CC, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Director of CCHS.
The project was designed and implemented by keeping the University Vision, Mission and the Core values in mind as guidelines to encourage, empower, help and support the various Support Services/ Departments of the University such as Housekeeping staff, Supervisors, Security Personnel, Plumbers, Electritions, Gardners etc. Together, they are often referred to as the backbone of the University!
The main aim of the outreach program was to better inform the staff about their emotional and physical wellbeing, sound mental health, interpersonal and intrapersonal connections and relationship, personal effectiveness and also to facilitate development of other life skills used in daily life. Apart from this the aim was also to increase the visibility of program, broaden community staff support rendered by CCHS.
The pre-approved, activity based modules were scheduled and systematically conducted on different days /dates as per the convenience of the staff members. More than 50 sessions are scheduled.
Participants expressed overwhelming responses and appreciation for being asked to participate and learn about such topics.
As a part of social responsibility, an old age home and an orphanage was periodically visited by the counsellors. At the orphanage, the children are given training in life skills through games and activities. Support is also offered to them in academics through periodical visits where they are given tutorials in Mathematics and English. In the old age home,counsellors spend time with senior citizens by offering personal counselling,engaging them in music, games, craft activities.
